Leela and the little beast

Because I'm so late with this upload you get a mega upload.

These here are all concept work from my sketchbook, the story thus far is that the little girl is growing up  with a large horrible foster family and she meets this little beast in the woods and agrees to be his friend in return for 3 wishes:

Bandit

Happy Illustration Sunday!
this is a concept piece for a character I'm working on named
"Bandit P. Reeves":
the idea is that he's kinda a normal guy who happens to be named after a less than ideal cartoon character (the dog from Johnny Quest), and suddenly when he gets into college all these wacky things start happening (unicorns, pirate battles, love potions,... you know, normal college stuff)

obviously there are still a bunch of kinks to work out.

Arabella and the Angry Chef

I was going through one of my sketchbooks from last year when I ran into the planning sketches for this picture.

as you can see I originally had planned to illustrate the whole room. But, due to my teachers insistence, I only focused on Arabella in the final.

And then we have this...
a doodle so obviously inspired by Ratatouille that Pixar is already sending me cease and desist letters:
I imagine the situation is that this guy came to apply at a fancy New York town house for the position of private  chef, and instead they decided to hire him as a baby sitter.
He is so angry.

also, this marks the return of sketchbook posts that actually look like they came from my sketchbook.

groovy huh?

Then I says:

Man, this took me forever to upload, usually I do my art entries a week in advance, but with all the work I was doing on my animation I didn't have the time.

Here's something I'm working on (still in progress):

I love salon talk, I kinda want to do a project were i sit in different salons and take notes of what is going on there all day.

I'll be leaving my apartment for about two weeks (it being Christmas and all),
but luckily I'm about to start scanning for my regularly scheduled auto updates.

and now, I'm out

Something for Everyone

And now, for some media of the mixed variety:

lonely swamp beast was done in silk screen, with additional detail added with marker, gouache, and Alivn Penstix .

I have this idea for a series based on lonely monsters, the wolfman started it off...
I might make a book of these things next year.

fantastic!

oh the pain, the agony

I'm currently up to my eyelids drowning in finals. (Curse you Hans Christian Andersen!!)
So due to my painful workload I really can't guarantee any updates this week... I will try my hardest though.

as a consolation prize I offer this piece of work I did last year... it's a digital traditional collage
yeah.

Avada Kadavra

Happy friday!... two things from the sketchbook:

a happy couple-

harry potter is angry! (and swearing, yikes!)-

I take secret (well maybe not that secret) enjoyment in
drawing silly pictures of the harry potter kids...
maybe i'll post more sometime?
I have a great picture of Harry hanging on my cereal cabinet...
I think that's be a good one to show.

'bit of science for you

I'm at the Field Museum almost every tuesday drawing.

This entirely scientific comic was inspired by what is written next to
the narwhal display in the basement:

The display itself is in an out of the way area. It's one of the sunken vending areas near the basement gift shop. I may post a few of my museum sketches this week, or maybe something else.

CRAZY!

Prelude to a finished book

Because of all the time I've been spending working on my comic project (which should be done right around Thanksgiving/Christmas) I thought it'd be keen to post some of my planning work.

So, here are two of the early pages (5 and 6 i believe):

Storyboards

Here's some of my original storyboards for my current animation project.
I've actually changed a lot of the plot so many of these don't figure in the way they used too, but still i enjoyed making them:
