Planning?

I've started re-sketching Chapter 1 of Here,After:

Don't get over excited though, I do this a lot.. I need to find a way to motivate myself to actually continue on... it's like I can plan forever, but actually getting a finished result is like pulling teeth.

I guess I'm just a planner? I should become a travel agent... they do a lot of planning...

anyways, here are a couple sketches that were alongside these panels (I have a huge sketchbook)

Hopefully I will be getting a new camera around x-mas so that my images will be of better quality... I'm tired of how grainy these are.

Post-It project

I did about 20 of these so far...
basically I got guys on craigslist to send me their pictures and I did a very quick doodle with a pen on a post it and sent it back to them... each man is identified by his favorite sandwich, if he listed it... otherwise I made shit up

Friday Plans!

I went on a photowalk through Joliet to take pictures of the old houses for reference material for
that graphic novel thing I'm still in the beginning stages of working on.
So I made this little photoshop mockup as to what acertain characters side of the street looks like:
that's all carry on!

I am extremely sorry for the lack of posts last week.
I knew I was missing, but I was more concerned with other things

anyways, started working on the first of the paintings:

It's about time I start painting things again.

I haven't done a painting series since I worked on the monsters, so it's about time.

here are 3 concepts for what I'm hoping will be a 5 painting series
I don't have a title for the series as a whole yet, though I've been throwing ideas around.
each concept has a working title along with an assigned color scheme, the other two will be yellow and violet

I'm going to make them in watercolor first and then if I'm still feeling up to it I might give oils a try.

oh and here's the original before any work was done:

I used a single round sable brush for most of the work... and came in for some details with a micron... and yes I did use crappy copy paper... how could you tell?

Also going to test out pens with nibs, charcoal, and pencil believe it or not.

I'm not sure when the super official announcement will be up as I've been stricken with a terrible case of tiny kittens. But believe me as soon as it's ready I will be posting that golden information every which where!

Where can I get more time?

Instead of doing what I am actually supposed to be doing this week... I played around with Illustrator some more:

in a way I guess it's good because I need more practice, but on the other hand there is a ton of stuff I need to take care of. Specifically I need to work on 1) actual school work and 2) comics...

In other news, I'm going to be heading out to the Joliet Historical Museum tomorrow.

My lovely friend Harvey (who was my model for the snow white project) is an intern in their collections department and will be sorting through a menacing pile of old wedding dresses.

Obviously I'll be there for emotional support.

I'll try and grab a few photos of things to post here.

Friday posts seem to be suffering the most with the way my current schedule works...

maybe if I move them to thursday I'd actually do them?

because I'm procrastinating, here's a look at what I'm working on:

it's for my "digital illustration" class... which oddly has very little to do with illustration...

the class should be renamed "advanced digital manipulations and layouts" or something.

as you can see the theme for my photos is Snow White, I used my lovely friend harvey to play all the parts...

I have a lot of work to do yet... like 6 more pages or so... ugh

Painting is...

Painting is overrated! Seriously!

Here's the next monster I'm working on...

I haven't come up with a name better than "the pink monster" yet...

That'd be a stellar band name... now if only i could play music...

Another failed attempt at awesome

As I mentioned once before, I lurk on Conceptart.org and occasionally sketch their Chow themes in my sketchbook.

They recently had one called the Morrigan for which I did this sketch

Then I tried to do some digital painting...
I didn't get very far....

Magical Sunday Update!

Man, I haven't felt like updating on a sunday in forever!

There are going to be 2 more monsters in the series... I haven't figured them out quite yet, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there, and if the bridge is out I'll doggy paddle.

The Workbench

I haven't had time to get back to that comic yet, I've been running around like a headless mutated chicken for the last few days.

I've mostly been working on my website (still under construction... but at least it works thanks to my friend Jeremy who fixed my shoddy work the first time around...) and various errands.

Also a new toilet appeared in my bathroom yesterday... obviously it is the work of some magical toilet gnomes.

2010 is looking to be a year of me actually getting stuff done. Wow.
